This painting was born out of a need for order and control. I needed to focus on the rational which is usually why I lean towards geometric pieces. I instantly wanted to call it the third degree, as that is what you subject yourself too and what others subject you to when you leave a partner, or make a seemingly out of the blue decision. It symbolises the third degree that people give you by doing something random, by doing something necessary, and then having to answer everyones same questions over and over about it. It seemed to fit and reminds me of the need for strength in those times of change.
